Brass Ganesh Idol Size Guide: Height, Weight and Where Each Size Works

Solid brass is dense, so a Ganesh idol that looks modest in a photograph can weigh far more than buyers expect, and weight decides how it is shipped and where it can safely stand. We measured the Ganesh statues in our catalogue to give you real numbers rather than guesses.

Height and weight chart

The figures below come from 155 brass Ganesh statues we make, each weighed and measured. Weight varies within a size band because a seated Ganesh on a wide throne carries far more metal than a slim standing figure of the same height.

Which size for which space

Home altar or shelf: 3–9 inches

Small idols fit standard mandir shelves and are easy to clean and move for pujas. Miniatures from about an inch tall are popular as return gifts and for car dashboards.

Living room or console: 9–16 inches

This is the most popular range for homes. The idol is large enough to be a focal point on a console, side table or entrance cabinet, and at 4–10 kg it can still be lifted by one person.

Entrance, office reception or shop: 16–30 inches

At this size the statue holds a corner or a reception counter on its own. Expect 10–30 kg for most designs, and place it on a sturdy, level stand.

Hotel lobby, temple or garden: 30 inches and above

Large statues weigh from about 25 kg into the hundreds of kilograms and need planning for the floor load, access to the site and a team to install them. We can supply pedestals and advise on fixing.

Pose, trunk direction and finish

Seated Ganesh is the most common form for homes and gifting, while dancing (Nritya) and standing forms suit lobbies and display niches. Traditionally, an idol with the trunk turned to the left is preferred for homes, and a right-turned trunk is associated with temple worship and stricter rituals. Finishes range from plain and polished gold to antique, silver-tone and multicolour stone work; browse them in our brass statue collection.

Shipping and buying in bulk

Idols up to about 15 kg ship in reinforced export cartons by courier; heavier statues travel in fumigated wooden crates, usually by sea freight. For retail stock, a mix of 6–12 inch idols covers most customer budgets, with a few statement pieces above 16 inches. Most designs can be ordered from 5 pieces. See our import guide for how an order works.
